The ZAWA
Collection of jackets, coats and vests has grown from
a shared interest in things Asian that has been an undercurrent
in the Santa Fe Weaving Gallery for over a decade. Asian-inspired
shapes, motifs
and textile techniques
have been inextricably linked to American Art-to-Wear for years.
Recently, through our travel to Japan and
an association with Takako
Ueki, owner of Habu Textiles in New York, we have been fortunate
enough
to
tap
into
a new trove of contemporary textiles, designers
and experiences that are transforming our offering
of Artisanal Dress at the gallery.
Together with the expert couture knowledge and skill of our garment
alchemist Gwen Spencer, Oregon, we have designed our own line of
jackets, coats and vests to delight our diverse and exquisite collectors.
